The Naked Mole-Rat
(A healthy specimen)
This is a Naked Mole-Rat. It is NOT a Guinea Pig.

The Mole-Rat is a small, burrowing mammal characterized by a pointed snout, rudimentary eyes, broad feet and long, powerful claws on the front pair of legs. They dig below the surface of the ground for their food, which consists principally of earthworms and insect larvae. The large hairs are used as sensory organs. I was as shocked as you were when I saw it but thought it was interesting. It shows characteristics of species that are very similar to cavies. I try to warn people in advance! You can ignore this link in the future if you choose.
