Pavlov had a bell. We have "GREENZUM". Everyday at 6:30pm.
"GREENZUM" (Spoken in a high pitched tone ... like a Cavie squeak) is the magic word that sends them over the edge in joyful wheeks. Ever since they were tiny every time we gave them the Really Cool vegetables to supplement pellets and hay, we have said "GREENZUM". And ... Pavlov was right.
What's really weird is they've come to the point now that they don't actually expect food every time they hear "GREENZUM." It seems like they're singing to say hello. If we feel like singing along together, we all sing. They are just as happy with a nose schnoodle as a spinach leaf.
Well, you get the picture.

A variation on "GREENZUM". "SEEDZUM" was created to emulate the "GREENZUM" sound, but with a different result. Instead of spinach, they are fed a small amount of nifty designer Guinea Pig food. It's an great mix of dried carrots, seeds, pellets, corn and stuff we can't even identify! "SEEDZUM" of course does not bring on the intense chirping that "GREENZUM" does, but it is darned effective. Many visitors to Scenic Eastside Hill are a bit freaked out when we and the Oinkers begin singing together. They accuse us of having far too much time on our hands. (They're right.) But they are amazed! (You can tell by the dropped jaws.) "SEEDZUM" or "GREENZUM." Take your pick. Fire up your Real Audio player and have a listen. If you don't have a Real Audio player yet (gasp!) you can get one now at www.real.com The Oinkers have wonderful singing voices and would be disappointed if you missed it.
